# 1 – Summer Computer Travel
Holiday travelers should be on alert for the arrival of a long weekend at home, such as the Fourth of July, a popular time for viruses to spread.
Most users tend to turn off their computers outside of travel, which means that you are not having recently released patches anti-virus or anti-spyware up to date, the two most common problems that cause computers. We recommend you update anti-virus and anti-spyware scans before opening e-mail or going online after a long absence.
We always an increased demand for problems related to the virus immediately after long weekends. Avoid dealing with problems by updating your security software before using your computer. For a list of viruses, threats and trends, visit: www.VisitingGeeks.com / downloads.htm
# 2 – If you leave your computer?
One question we often hear is: “Should I leave my desktop computer or turn it off?”
There are 2 schools of thought?
Turning on and off many times during the day, the subjects microcontroller bending and fatigue due to temperature change. Over time, this could lead to a break in the circuit and cause the failure of the system.
Leave the computer on site all the time excessive wear on mechanical components (hard drive pin and engine cooling fans).
Best compromise. First the user in the morning, it runs on; last user turns aside.
We leave our offices throughout the scheduled time to allow the utility to perform tasks during the night hours. We also restart the system (to clear memory and reset the operating system) on a regular basis and routinely remove the case covers to clean any dust that accumulated in May, especially around the fans and screens.
# 3 – Stop Popups!
Never click inside the window of a pop-up window. Instead, close it by clicking the X in the upper right corner. Many people are tricked into installing spyware applications by popups that promise to their own system. If you receive a message indicating it can help, with it? Spyware don’t click!
